You'll need at least 1000w for two of these.
I recommend something that is Gold Rated, at least 600w, and from a reputable manufacturer. Requires a lot of power compared to nvidia cards. FYI you can monitor your VRM temps with HWINFO64 (free software). This really isn't an issue unless you are an extreme overclocker, but other brands (like MSI) feature direct-contact cooling of the VRM's. If you decide to crank up the voltage all the way, your vrm's will climb to 115c or more. The VRM's are poorly cooled compared to other cards. Would've liked to see one on a card in this price range. Really Sapphire? Although this card doesn't sag and has excellent rigidity, the backplate provides protection to the exposed circuitry. it does go on sale sometimes, so check back here often if you are thinking about getting one.Ĭons: No backplate. It's a well known fact that graphics card sag will warp and kill your PCIe slot, and it's nice to see none of it here.Įxcellent Price for what you are getting. This is an important detail that lots of people overlook. The cooler is mounted in multiple places on the PCB along the entire length of the card. There is no sag on this card, despite being so long. This makes it easy to plug and unplug the dual 8-pin power cables that you'll need. The power connectors are mounted upside down, with the tabs on the top. This thing has 3x displayport, 1xhdmi, and 1xDVI.
R9 390X GPU Z FULL
If you decide to manually crank the fans to 100%, you will see temps as low as 55c when under full load. When not overclocked, the fans only get up to 50%, resulting in a quieter gaming experience than the competition. Sapphire definitely put the space to good use though, this is the best cooler I've ever seen. Make sure to measure your case to ensure it fits. The cooler on this card is absolutely massive, bigger than everything else on the market. It also has improved GDDR5 memory chips, which allowed AMD to increase memory bandwidth by 20% over the previous generation. It's an excellent graphics card that trades blows with the GTX 980 at 1080p, and outright wins at higher resolutions.ĪMD has refined their manufacturing process, meaning that the 390x performs better, consumes less power, and can achieve higher overclocks compared to the older R9 290x. Actual individual game clock results may vary.Pros: This thing is a beast. ‘Game Frequency’ is the expected GPU clock when running typical gaming applications, set to typical TGP (Total Graphics Power). Boost clock achievability, frequency, and sustainability will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to: thermal conditions and variation in applications and workloads. ‘Boost Clock Frequency’ is the maximum frequency achievable on the GPU running a bursty workload.
